Our passion for Simmental cattle began in 1996 when I purchased my first Simmental heifer. That heifer went on to become the Reserve Champion Female at The Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE) Junior Simmental Show that same year. Since then, our operation has been built on a foundation of hard work, dedication, and a deep love for the Simmental breed.

At Uriarte Cattle Co., we focus on producing cattle that excel in both the show ring and real-world environments. We believe that long-term profitability is rooted in focusing on maternal traits, which is why our primary goal is to produce high-end females. We’re committed to carefully crafting elite maternal matings that will ensure herd longevity and low-maintenance input for years to come. Our small herd is built around quality over quantity, and every female must earn her place by proving herself year after year. As Montana breeders, we take great pride in raising functional, attractive cattle with a strong emphasis on maternal strength and structure.

We employ a variety of science-based tools to guide our planned matings. All of our cattle are DNA-tested, and any animal sold from our program will come with genomically enhanced EPDs. We use cutting-edge technology, including the RightMate system from Top Genomics, LLC, to evaluate planned matings on a DNA level. This service helps us eliminate "wasted matings"—a philosophy we strongly embrace. We also incorporate conventional phenotypic mating analysis and apply the Bonsma principles of cattle evaluation, ensuring the consistency and predictability of every animal we sell.
